You Shouldn’t Say “It is Me” because “Me” is accusative
In Latin you would use It is I, but does the structure of English (or of any language) have to be the same as the structure of Latin? No, it doesn’t have to have the same structure. The French say c’est moi ( it is me) and it isn’t even possible to say It is I. French comes directly from Latin, but they don’t always use the Latin pattern. Why they try to use the Latin way? In history Latin was a very important language and because of that some people think that Latin would improve English.
